hi everyone,

i was an absolutely terrified public speaker. I let it control my life, the job i had, my success in my job, and loads of my choices outside of work aswell.

i thought i was the most terrified public speaker in the world, but i was reading on another blog about who was so nervous that when she was on stage, she had a panic attack, started dry heaving, and then puked twice....now i wasn't that scared, but i was pretty damn scared.

the biggest piece of advice that i can give to anyone is to join toastmasters. my biggest problem with public speaking was that i always had to do it in really stressful situations, where i couldnt afford to make mistakes. Toastmasters gives you a platform to start out, somewhere where you can make a fool out of yourself with any serious consequences.

i also trained as an actor to become a better public speaker, and one of the great things i learnt about those guys, was that they get nervous too! but by warming their bodies up, they can control their nerves. i've written about it here and have created a site built around my experiences, worth checking out i reckon

good luck everyone

ps i'm still a scared public speaker, i get REAL nervous, but the difference now is that i KNOW i can do it

big love
